TOWN PLANNING CONFERENCE
NEW FEDERAL CAPITAL. LONDON, October-16. Lord*- Kitchener, presiding at the Townplanning Conference, referred to the wonderful reconstruction of Khartoum. Much, he said, would be heard of Australia's Federal capital, which was to be built on the Yass-Canberra site. While in Australia, Lord Kitchener added, he visited the splendid cities of Sydney and Melbourne, and he rather regretted the necessity of baring to find another abode for the Commonwealth Parliament. The new capital, however, would start with great advantages, and he hoped it would afford an example of the principles the Conference was advocating. Mr. John Sulman, F.R.1.8.A., Lecturer in Architecture in Sydney University, sent a paper on the new Commonwealth capital, which was read to the Conference.
