HANDLING OF FROZEN MEAT.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.!? WELLINGTON, Sunday. - In reference to the London cable challenging his remarks concerning the handling of New Zealand frozen meat in London, Dr. Chappie, 3£.P. for Stirlingshire, who is now in Wellington-, states: "I did not, describe what I did not see, and I did not exaggerate what I did see. 1 went there and saw for myself what I described, and the evidence of one man \vho sees a thing is worth the evidence o£ a dozen who do not sec. Accompanied ■by Mr. W. D. Lysnar (Mayor of Gisborne) and Mr. J. K. Field, of Gisbofnc, I visited the barges at the Albert Dockj and saw what 1 described. I reiterate that the condition of the barges was bad, and the barges are entirely unsuitable from 'their condition and from the delay in transit -up the fiver, which variea from 24 koure on ordinary days to 43 hours -when Sunday intervenes."
