Kuranui.—At tlie Shotover drive Hie Teef is now on pQie opposite wan. The ore is low grade past the breast head. The ore pf rom the stope north-east carries aU metals on gold. The average width, ol the leader; is 3* Inches. - J „.. •Golden Belt—The -main drire at tlie 80ft level has been epxtended 7ft. The leader is Ift wide, 'being nice mineralised quartz. The country, however, ds rather 'broken at present. The cross leader «s about 4tn wide and getting more defined. In pthe intermediate drive the leader is small. May Queen.—At No. 10 level 0000 ft) the main crosscut is being driven to cut the Queen of Beauty reef, -with Qrree shifts. There is now good ventilation. The branch crosscut to intersect pthe leader cut in the chamber is now 'being continued. Another 20ft should cut the leader. At No. 9 level the Queen of Beauty reef looks well, and 2 to 3 feet in pwidth. The quartz is heavily mineralised, and -frequently shows colours of gold. In the northern crosscut the No. 4 lode and ibangingwull leader are being stoped, and the ■ quartz yielded a little picked stone. From Ko. 6 level quartz snowing gold pamd of fair grade is being won. Crushing was stopped since last Monday, owing to the driving belt having broken. The manager hopes to resume crushing on Tuesday. Old Hauraki. —At 400 ft level, IVo. 1 block, No. 3 stope is along SOft, and produced during the week lOlbs of picked stone. No. 4 stope, along 51ft, strong dabs of gold sbowing. Sa 6 stope, in 21ft, reef fair Blze and well mineralised. No. 6 stope has been started, but no quarts broken, ln No 2 block the leef looks promising for gold. No. 2 stope is tn seven feet; reef Is smalL North block. No. 7 stope, Is in 47ft- No 8 stope, 24ft; reef small in both faces. The new reef at the 300 ft level nas been driven upon for T79£t No. 1 stope, No. 1 block, is along 68ft, Not 2 stope 64ft. A few pieces of picked stone were obtained. No. 3 stope is in 35ft. The reef is 2ft wide.' Another 3ft should reach the point where gold was got in No. 2 stope. The rise is up 21ft, and the reef Is a. strong body of ore. North Block, No. 1 stope, is in 76ft No. 2 stope is in 31ft. Quartz is making" in the face. No. 3 stope is in 15ft for 101ns of picked stone. The new reef at the 22ftft level shows strong colours of Thames.— During ihe last few days Sic reef has been somewhat disturbed, owing to a small break. The lode is now becoming more compact, and some of the quartz looks very well. Golden Belt.—ln the drive south the reef at the low level a little,water Is making, and the one is of a semi-oxidised nature. Hauraki Reefsv—The winze from the intermediate level is now down 9 feet. Driving on the reef at No. 1 level is in progress with three shifts. The reef is still a well defined body of ore, and looks well, being | 12 inches wide, showing good minerals, and a few nice cotours of gold were seen in the quartz broken. •Pride of Tokatea. —At pthe low level the drive to test the Rainbow lode is in a distance of 40ft. At the prospecting level n very promising lode is being driven on in a westerly direction. Daring the week two men have been engaged in one of the upper levels testing a lode wnich gives loose prospects. ■KM Kit! Consolidated.—The main drive' is in S22£t_ The reef is still divided into two .parts, with, a band of sandstone 3 feet wide between. Bach branch is from 1 6 to 8 inches wide, and there is still a good deal of copper mineral showing in each of them. iSaxon.—The 6haft has been enlarged and timbered down to 310 feet. Reliance. —The mine was closed on Thursday, in accordance with instructions from the supervisor, Mr. H. H. Adams. The manager reports pthe crosscut was in 95 feet and the country getting better for progress every foot driven. He expected to cut the reef at any time. Alburnia. —The result of rising on Dixon's lode, where goid was seen when driving, not having proved satisfactory, work has been, abandoned at that point It fe now intended to drive seaward on the Sons of Freedom j reef in a westerly direction from the Old Alburnia level. Mt. Welcome.—ln the low level, when cutting hitches for timber, gold was seen freely in the stone at bottom of the level.
