LABOUR DAY SPORTS^" AS* UNRULY CEOWaA very large crowd gathered at the Domain, yesterday afternoon to attend the Labour Day sports, and the weather keeping fine promise of a good afternoon's sport was made. Unfortunately, the crowd was not content to keep within the limits set apart for it, and swarmed all over the sports gepund, -with the result that committee and police had a heavy task to keep sufficient space clear for the different events. The programme was greatly delayed, and several items had to be dropped. The following were the concluding results:— Labour Day Handicap (open), l2ovds — First heat: G. Gibb, 13yds, 1; C. The entertainment given toy Dayme's yandeville Company in the Tivoli Theatre last evening attracted a larger audience than ■usual. There -were good attendances at the# Priuce's rinU at all the sessions yesterday, and in the evening, when a special programme of sports was held, there were as mauy skaters and onlookers as the hnll would accommodate. The results of the competitions held were as follows: —Musical chairs, Mr A Cornega; egg and spoon race. Mr B. J. Nelson; most graceful trio, Misses Poppie Payne and I. Norton, and Mr G. Nicoi; most graceful couple, Hiss May Knight and Mr B. J. Nelson; tandem race. Miss I Norton and Mr G. NicoL Mr P. .Tames beat Mr E. D. Lamb in a mile race, after an interesting contest. The prizes won at the last carnival were presented during the evening. Miss Hazel Hipkins received her prize ns the wearer of the best fancy dress costume -which has previously won prizes, and Miss Frissie Payne was awarded the trophy open to competitors who had not previously taken a prize. Exhibitions of fancy skatins were given b» Miss E. Harvey and Mr A. Gonard. Ok Tuesday night there will be a black and white evening, and the prizes won last night will be presented. WINDSOR RINK.
