Some months ago the Government authorised the duplication of the telegraph line from Auckland to Hamilton, and steps have already been taken towards carrying out this important work. It may be mentioned that this is in connection with the new wire from Auckland to Wellington, which, when completed, will give increased facilities for telegraphic communication, and it is also intended tiaat tliis wire will twi available for telephone comTnuxneafcion beU lucl-W AjiJ MMsM ft!) o'clock in evening?.
