WELLINGTON. HARLBOK.OTJGH BEATS WEL/DINGTON* B. WELLINGTON, Saturday. MarlborougTi defeated a strong Wellington B team at Athletic Park this afternoon by 8 points to 6. The visitors liad far the best of both spells, and should have scored at least us many points again. The ground was very wet nnd the ball sLippery. and this robbed Marlborough of many chances. The visiting forwards displayed splendid form and ran over their opponents, who included F. Roberts, Mackellar, Tilyard, Walshe, I*yle, Mona Thomson, Hardham, and Hunter. In the flrst spell Wellington led by o points tnr nil. Tries were scored by Tyrrell and Mliott. but were not converted. In the second spell Marlborough simply overwhelmed Wellington, and had exceedingly hard lines in not scoring several times. O'Hrien, who played a magnificent game, placed a good penalty goal, and Daly scored a try. which O'Brien converted, thus giving Marlborough the match. The victory was enthusiastically received by many visitors from Marlborough among the crowd. For the winners O'Brien, Daly, 'Costello, and Manning played line games among the backs, and the forwards were good to a man. For Wellington.
