PERTH TRAM STRIKE.
' STTLL DRAGGING AIOBG. DYHAMTTE ON THE METES. (Received 5.33 a.m.) PERTH, this day. The tram strike is dragging aiong. A few cars are running, and there is some talk of importing men from the Eastern Status. A message received from Perth last Monday says the reason the trams did not run on Sunday was the further cutting of the company's wires and cables. All the cables connecting with the powerhouse, 18 in number, were doubly cut on I Saturday evening, pieces 12 inches long l " ! being carried away. The cutting was l " ! evidently done by an expert man with ar c I intimato knowledge of the company's sys--0 I tern. Detectives are investigating. The 3 trams are running to-day. The company announces that, while engaging men under the arbitration award, when the full complement is secured they will be offered the mediators' terms, which are ncra refused by the men, with'a classification, under a three-years' agreement. The men now working on the ears will have preference, but ex-employees will be taken on individually. .(Received 10 a,nu) ; PERTH, this day. The service is being increased, and the public are patronising the cars ma* ! freely. A packet containing a plug of dynamite and a detonator was discovered on a rail.
