THE YEAR'S OPERATIONS. The annual meeting of shareholders in' ■the Thames Gus Company, l>td., was advertised to -bake 'pface at the oilice of the I secretary (Mr VV. i>. A. unfa morn- j ing, but as a quorum was not present the i ciiuirman of directors (Mr VV. Ware) had to declare the meeriiDg adjourned. The ithirty-tiigtiLh. auuual report stated, thai 'the 'balance to credit for tue year, including ftiliU li/2 brought forward, amounted £1821 11/S, from which an lamouut of £41)0 2/ was paid as a dividend at the rate of 1/ per s-hare iv March hurt, leaving a balance of i 1322 U/S. Out of this sum the directors recommended the payment of Hi further dividend of 1/3 per shurc. making i si dividend at the rate of 2/3 per share for •the whole year. This .would leave a credit ■baJance of i-USiS 12/2 to carry forward. Tiie ■balance-sheet showed liabilities to be £20,111 l'J/3, aud usse'us at £21,437 0/1. The working account for the past year included, among other items, mages £235 19/0, nraiuitenance £SUU 18/11, salaries £433, rates aud •taxes £165 1/8, coal carbonised £7SU 11/4. On the credit side, gas sales produced £2083 12/0, public .lighting £103, residual products; £451 4/7, coal sales £40 1/10, sundries £34 17/1. The Chairman, dn declaring the meeting adjourned till to-morro-w, remarked that the year's operations called for little mention, matters having gone on much as they did the previous year. Failing the meeting of a quorum to-morrow, the retiring director and 'the present officers would hold office until the next annuul meeting. Mr iH. Atkinson, the retiring director, offered himself for re-election. Following upon the general meeting, the directorate met and declared the dividend recommended in the report.
