WAIKATO ITEMS.
. % (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. In view of the increase of population in Claudelands, residents are beginning to realise that in the near future they will be faced' with the questions of sanitation, water supply, etc., and that a different system of local government is desirable. At a meeting of ratepayers held last night, the general opinion was favourable to the merging into a borough, and a sub-committee was set up to collect data and information to lay before a public meeting of residents at an early date. The secretary of the Waikato Winter Show has received the 100 guinea cup presented by Lovell and Christmas for competition in the butter classes next year. The terms of the competition have '' yet to be arranged. j At Waikato Brewery, Wm. Clarke, an employee, who has been appointed to! the charge of the Waihi branch, was presented with a travelling bag, as an expression of appreciation of his services' to the firm.
