COOK'S CLIMB
UP MT. MeRIKLEY. j NEW TOPJ-.. July 15. ; Dr. Cook's mountain records have been i found at last. Not that they were ever ; 3 exactly lost, but there have all along I . been serious doubts as to whether Peary's j ; famous rival really did acetimplish that ■( great climb up Mt. McKinley, in Alaska, for which he took credit. From Colorado, however, word now comes tlrat an Alaskan miner, one Canigac declares that the doctor scaled —I_, HcE-ileT right enough. '■ C_rrig?.n says that he _scsndßd the lofty mount—.in himself. __.d that _± the summit he discovered the tube containing the records and the American flag that had been placed there by Cook. Towards the end of last year the Peary Arctic Club, which had 'set itself the j; task of discrediting Dr. Cook, published I a sworn affidavit of Mr. B-rrille, who ■, accompanied Cook on his expedition to i ML McKinley in 1906- He declared that Dr. Cook was never nearer than 14 miles from the summit of the mount, and he Ktatc-d. also, that he doctored his diary r.t CVk-.lts request. The story was corroborated by Mr Miller., the photographer of the party.
