'A PROTEST. By Telegraph. —Press Association.) CHRISTCHUBCH, Sunday. A meeting, convened by representatives 0 { organised' labour, was held in Cathedral Square this afternoon to protest Lrinst the attitude of Mr. Justice Sim i,7 the Bhearers' case. Tho speakers were v*«re A. D. Hart. F. R- Cook, A. PatCom, A. Campbell, and L. R. Wilson, ill made strong statements imputing unfairness and prejudice on the part of the President of the Court, and all alleged that ho prejudiced the shearers' case fjom the newspaper reports. The following resolution was carried -aaaimoufilyi "That this meeting exnresses its indignation, and protests Against the extraordinary action of Sir. Justice Sim in the recent shearers' dispute before the Arbitration Court, and Ugws with serious alarm his coercive attitude towards the union, also his preiudicing the case from Press reports, end also his most insulting references io the shearers' representative." Mr. Hart, who presided, and other speakers emphatically denied that the Carers' Union had anything to do with promoting the meeting... & WELLINGTON DISPUTE. WELLINGTON', Sunday. _ dispute has arisen between the Wellington Shearers' Union on the one hand jud the employers (the New Zealand Fanners' Union and the Hawke's Bay gheep Owners' Union) en the other. The dispute relates to rates of pay and hours of labour for shearers and shed hands throughout the Wellington industrial district, The list of employers includes pnne 2000 farmers. The dispute will come before the Conciliation Council shortly.
