The Rugby Union championships were advanced "another stage on Saturday, ■Then wins were registered by Ponsonby, Parnell, and Grafton. The weather was beautifully fine but cold, and there was lai-trs attendance, considerable interest being° evinced in the secondary schools' match between Grammar School and College, which was played as a curtain raiser to the University and Ponjonbv match. The game resulted in a fairly easy win for Grammar by 10 points to iliree. after a game devoid of any particular interest except to those interested in the teams. The victory gives Grammar School the championship for the season. . ponsonby had a comfortable win over University, defeating them by 16 points to six, after a ragged-exhibition. Parnell triumphed over Marist Bros, by nine points to nil, and Grafton beat City by nine points to six. The positions of the teams are: — c « & "S . . 2 2 o.
