BRICKLAYERS' DISPUTE.
Demands made by the Auckland Bricklayers' Union for embodiment in anew award were considered hy the Conciliation Council to-day. Mr T. Harle.Gilea (commissioner) presided; the employer's assessors included Messrs. J. T. Julian, W. E. Hutchison, and A. Grayson, and those of the workers were Messrs. /W. Hamilton, D. Sell, and W. Tucker. Itrv S. I. Clarke (secretary) represented theMasters' Association, and Mr Gibson (secretary) the Union of Workers. The following exemptions were applied: for and granted:—Messrs. J. J; Grais and Co., Auckland Sawmfllers' Assooation, Electric Tramway Co., Northern S.S. Co. The workers are asking for an increase of wages from 1/6 to 1/7J per hour for/ a week's work of 47 hours, and time and a-quarter for all classes of jots embracing hot and dirty work. Apprentices of not more than one to threejourneymen to he employed, and shed.' accommodation and other improvements. : in conditions of labour are demanded.';.: The Council went into conference f<j consider the points in dispute.
