PUBLIC SCHOOL MATCHES.

J A GRADE. | Devonport defeated Pousonby by 8 points Ito nil. For Devonport, Dncre scored two i tries, one of which Fowler converted. | Newton East defeated Parnell by 6 points to nil. For Newton East, tries were scored !by Forrester and Hedley. | Pitt-street defeated Mount Eden by 23 i points to nil. For Pitt-street, tries were j scored by Devauey (2), Palpker, Morris, Lynch, and Hing; one of these Devauey converted, besides kicking a penalty goal. Newton West drew with Beresford-stieet, both scoring 3 points. For Newton West, Logan scored a try; Wailier did the same for Beresford-street. B GRADE. Bayfield drew with Normal, neither side scoring. j Napier-street and Remuera B won their I matches by default. j ' C GRADE. Ellerslie defeated Epsom by 30 points to | nil. For the winners, tries were scored Iby Austin (4), Mason (2), Tooinan, and Ballautine, three of these Austin convert.cd. ! Remuera C defeated Chapel-street by 6 points to a Remuera scored two tries and I Chapel-street one. ! Newmarket won from Edendale by de--1 fault.

- WELLINGTON AND AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS. The annual football match between the Auckland and Wellington tramway employees for the challenge shield presented by the late Mr. Adolph Kohn, will be played at Epsom on Wednesday next, the 13th Inst. , After the match the teams will dine at the Tiffin, after which there will be a smoke , concert. The dinner will be under the pat-, ronage of the Mayor of Auckland, and a <■ number of leading citizens are also invited, i On Thursday the visitors will be taken j. round the harbour, visiting the various ,_ places of interest.
