TRADE WITH CANADA.
COMMISSIONER ARRIVES. PROSPECTS OP NEW SERVICE. BRISBANE, July 10. Mr. W. A. Bcddoe, the Canadian Trade Commissioner to .New Zealand, arrived here by the Manuka, from Vancouver, to-day. In the course of an interview, Mr. Beddoe said he hoped to be able to extend the relations between Canada and New -Zealand. He was convinceu that a large trade could be developed, especially in frozen mutton, from New Zealand to Canada, and Canada was extremely anxious to promote closer trade relations. Mr. Beddoe said he did not regard the drought in Canada as very serious, as it only affected portion of the country. The new Commissioner spoke hopefully of the prospects of the new steam service from Montreal to New Zealand. He was strongly in favour of trans-Continental railways to further trade relations.
