Buddo this [morning and urged the retention of Mr. Carnie as inspector of explosives at Auckland. 3Cr. Btiddo replied that McLaren, had reported that there was no longer need for such, an officer in Auckland. Mr. Car hie, nay, ing knowledge of chemical matters, would be transferred to another department. ■ '
