DUNEDIN, this day. < At the annual meeting of shareholders J in the Cromwell and Bunnockburn Col- j Heries Company the following resolution I was adopted, on the motion of Mr. Horn, I chairman of the Vincent Countyj Council: "That this meeting strongly protests \ against any amendment of the Companies Act which will restrict the auditing of i companies' accounts to public accounts only, as this will be a 'serious burden to j all small coal, quartz, and dredging com- f panics, whose officers may be outside a ~. large centre of population, and will also tend to create a close corporation for the express benefit of a few public account-, ants." A copy of the resolutions is to be • forwarded to the Premier and members of the Government. {
