BIG GAME HUNTING.
MENAGERIE BREAKS LOOSE. LION IN A HEN-HOUSE. SYDNEY, July 8. While a performance of Wirth's Circus was in progress at Murrurundi a lion, two lionesses, and two wolves escaped. The wolves and a lioness were captured before they had got clear of the circus grounds, but not before the lioness had attacked and injured a pony. The circus hands and a number of residents set out in chase of the others, and after a long search found the lion in a hen-house. A cage drawn by an elephant was sent and the lion recaged. The other lioness was discovered prowling about in the main street, and it was surrounded, and a cage being brought it was driven in. There was much excitement ,in the township while the chase was in progress, though the circus audience remained quiet. f ' The lions mauled several horses, almost killing one. '
