A MAHDIST RISING.
PROMPTLY SUPPRESSED. (Received 8.25 a.m.) CAIRO, July 8. The authorities have promptly suppressed the rising of a new so-called Mahdi, who had four hundred armed followers in the Carbreh district of Lower Egypt. There was some fighting before the forces of the Mahdi were put to flight.
