ACCIDENTAL DROWNING.
RESULT OF A FIT. An inquest, was held at the Criterion Hotel-yesterday before the City Coroner (Mr T. Gresham) on the body of the man named Robert BuTra, who was picked up on the rocks, near the Devonport •wharf, on Friday evening last. The inquest was held yesterday to suit the convenience of Captain Farquhar and the relatives of the'deceased. The evidence showed that deceased, who suffered from ■heai-t complaint, had a cup of ten at Devonport on Friday evening, and it is surmised that he subsequently walked along the wharf., and, being attacked with a fainting fit, fell over into the water. Dr. lAubin certified that death ■was due to drowning, and a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. The deceased was a well-known- business man in Auckland in the earlier days of the city, when he and his partner (Mr De Hirsch) carried on business in Wynd-ham-street. Mr Burra had been carrying on business in Thames as a stationer for a good many years, and lately had been in failing health. His wife and one child are left to mourn their loss.
