Several plans of ornamental gates for the Domain were submitted from Messrs McNab and Mason (of Auckland), C. Reid (of Cambridge); and Archdeacon Walsh had sketched two of. a very ornamental deaigh. There was considerable discussion as to the amount to be spent on the memorial at the j Domain, and as to Whether it should be only entrance gates or a portion of fencing in addition. However, eventually it was decided not to expend more than £300 oil the gates, etc., and to obtain designs from the various manufacturers in. the Dominion.
