COLLISION OFF SYDNEY HEADS
BOTH VESSELS DAMAGED. SYDNF.Y, June 17. The Fiji Government steamer Ranadi, from Fiji to Sydney, reports being in collision in the darkness early this morning with the barquentinn lima, from the Clarence River, just off the Heads. The steamer was going at full speed at the time, and had her stern fractured and bow twisted by the impact, and a number of rivets were started, opening up seams between the plates through which a quantity of water found its way below. The Tlma was struck a sliding blow on the port side, a large rent being made between the main and the mizzen masts. The Ranadi stood by until it was ascertained that the barquentine was safe, hnr own damage preventing hor from towing the bnrquentine in. This was done by a tug an hour or two later.
