THE SHEARING RATE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Mr. Laraey. secretary of the New Zealand .Shearers and Woolsaed Employees 5 Association, now on his way South, told <i reporter that he-had formed a branch at Gisborne with a membership-compris-ing 70 Maorjs. . These unanimously resolved not to work for- less thanlfl and rations. Mr. Laraey states that after speaking to the shearers, lie is convinced that none in Hawke's Bay vrjll be engaged for less, and added that it is unlikely that the employers will offer less.
