RAILWAYMEN'S WAGES.
CANADA'S DEMAND FOB INCREASE.
OTTAWA, June 16. The Board of Conciliation failed to adjust the difficulties djie to the Grand Trunk Railway employees' demand for an increase of 40 per cent in wages, and a similar demand with regard to the Canadian-Pacific Railway for an increase of 23 per cent. The Canadian-Pacific Company was prepared to grant a greater part of the increase, but the Grand Trunk Company was unable to afford it. The latter company suggests a gradual increase until the wages equal those in the Canadian-Pacific.
