GERMAN MURDER DRAMA.

A WIFE ON TRIAL. (Received 5.45 a.m.) BERLIN, June 7. The trial of Frau Sehoenbeck for the murder of her husband in December, 1907, has been commenced in Berlin. One evening in January, 190S, at Allenstein, Prussia, Major yon Sehoenbeck encountered a masked man on his staircase in the barracks. He attempted to use his revolver, but the cartridge missed fire. The masked man in turn fired, and i the major fell dead. At the trial evidence pointed to the crime being committed at the instigation *of the murdered man's wife. It was alleged that she concealed the mask beforehand, so ! that- the murderer might use it. Captain ! I yon Goeber confessed that he committed the crime in a frenzy of love. He was sentenced to death, but was saved from the gallows by committing suicide in his cpII. Although the evidence showed that Madame yon Sehoenbeck was concerned in the affair, she was not prosecuted in I9OS, experts disagreeing about her mental condition. She was recently arrested in Berlin for inciting and participating' in the murder, and her trial is arousiitgi profound interest in Germany.
