COUNTRY NEWS.
TE AWAMUIU. A most successful *portg meeting in connection with the Te Awamutn Polo Club was held on the local polo grounds on Wednesday, April 27th. 1010. There was a large number of spectators, and the entries for the various events showed that considerable interest is shown In this popular game. Mr Wm. Taylor acted as judge, and Mr A. H. Storey as starter. The co/n----mlttee was Messrs W. Kay. F. Taylor,, O. Kay, B. Potts, G. Teasdale, J. Teasd*e, and I. ilourue. Mt A. Kay carried out the secretarial duties. The following were the prize-winners:—Polo ball race: F. Taylor 1. (J. Urquhart 2. liendiDß competition: T. Kav 1, W. Kay 2. Potato race: G. Teasdale 1, j. Kay 2. Lidies' Bracelet: A. Kay 1, T. Kay 2. Polo ball race (local handicap): F. Taylor 1, K. MeGtbe 2. I'olo pony test: A. Taylor 1, F. Potts 2. Cigar and umbrella race: 0. Kay 1, A. Taylor 2. Donkey race: W. Taylor last man. A. Kay first man. Cot> solution race: F. Potts 1, E. McCabe 2. Also started: E. A. Cox, S. A. Empson, E. Moeller, and N. Ahler.
