A narrow escape from, a serious accident, which might have caused loss of life, occurred, by some mp-va not yet ascertained, in an explosion on one of the launches running from the Thames to the Ha_r_ki lands which are being opened for settle—_—i_ One of the-oc_g— —i<~, a man named Brenna-n, was severely burnt about the face, head and hands, and was conveyed to the hospital His condition is not serious. The launch was charred and damaged, but the fire was confined chiefly to the cabin, and the hull is practically undamaged; The general opinion is that the occupants had a lucky escape from severe injury, perhaps death. . '
