MURDER OF A PEARLSHELLER.
SIX ABORIGINES SENTENCED' TO DEATH. PERTH, April S. At Broome yesterday six aborigines ■were sentenced to death for the murder of John Pritchard Jones, ai Yampi Sound, *ear Derby, in January last. The deceased, Jones, and his partner llassin, went to Yampi ?ound in a lugger, prospecting for pearlshell. The natives came aboard and gDt Jones to go ashore in a dinghy, promising to return to tea.
Massin was left alone, and was treacherously attacked with a tomahawk on the lusrgor by a native, whom he shot and threw overboard. Masstn. waited three days for Jones' return, and then made for Derby, where he reported th? • matter. Constable Fletcher. after several weeks' search, discovered the remains of <,Jones, and captured the whole tribe con cerned in the murder. i At the trial, when the natives were 4 asked if they had anything to say .against the sentence, one of them, named , Kallygurro, eaid he alone had killed ! Jones.
