MINE MANAGERS, REPORTS.

Waiotahi. stopes on the footwall dropper, No. 6 level, have been in hand. The reef is about lota In width, showing colours of gold. At No. 5 level, In the sixth, stope, the Cure reef is about Uin In width, and good dabs of gold are seen. The etones on the hanglngwall leader, No. 4 level, are •being continued as usual. The fifth stope has been carried west of the rise for a distance of 34ft. A sixth stope west from the rise is now being- started, and good colours of gold are seen. As the stopes on the main reef above this level are not payable,- further stoping has been stopped, and we are now putting up a rise from the back, of the stopes to see if a better grade of quartz can be met with higher up. Klrikiri Consolidated.—The crosscut has been advanced 13ft.' On Wednesday a hard bar came hj from the roof of the drive, striking at rigli-t angles with, the crosscut and underlying to the east. This may have had the effect of checking -this lode on its down-ward coinat—_. The drive on the main reef is in 23ft. The lode has increased to Oft, with no sign of the footwall showing. The ore body in places looks welL, i and carries a high percentage of favourable I minerals, but has shown no gold. I Silverstream.—Ah improvement has set in, the country rock in the tunnel being easier. A rise is being put upon, the lode in the Silver Queen section, -off Brown's level, in the Sulphide, creek. Some very good ore is being got, but the water Is very troublesome. There is a hundredj weight of good ore in hand. ' Reliance.The drive west Is on the hanglngwall of the reef. The whole face' is in quartz, with no sign, of the footwall. There is every indication of the re— imI proving as the drive advances. The manager hopes ere long to meet with good values. Imperial.—The <E_plre reef averages 2ft in width, and during the week a few colours of gold were seen. Bright mineral veins are striking Into the reef. Magnet. drive is along 108—, and the reef averages 2ft Cln, earring favourable minerals. Wakatere.The new reef has split into two portions, but should come together again as the drive advances. New Comstock. "Victoria reef improved very much during the week. On Thursday, however, a change came to hand, which brought In values, gold being seen both by pounding and washing , the loose dirt. The reef is in two portions,-' two feet of the hanglngwall being black manganese, . with nice-looking quartz intermixed, carrying a little loose gold. The footwall portion is of a brownish nature, but no wall-! has been exposed. The country is much firmer, and the reef underlying in its' proper position. Common th.—ln the low. level, the country is tight, and progress rather slow. Wnitnngl Consolidated. —In the western section the level is iv 184 ft 61n. A contract has been let to extend the Beach. level, Tararu,. which is, now In 'Soft. • Halcyon.—The main crosscut Is along 20—t. The country has improved greatly. What appears. be a small dropper crossed the face. It is heavily mineralised. ,' Only a-small portion of the reef has been broken. The stone shows much better,-—— stronger colours of gold. Consolidated.—When breaking ; down on Saturday, nice colours of gold were • scan, and, as the leaders are .-—king in size, the manager considers the prospects most encouraging. . • ■ .. Watchman.—The charter level is being repaired, with three shifts, good progress being made. Golden Belt.—The reef at No. 1 level is now 6ft wide and highly mineralised. In the low level south the country is highly mineralised, and getting better as the drive i advances. .. Old Haurakl.— the —Oft level, the dz-fve on the new reef is along 74ft from the rise. The country continues favourable, | although no gold has been Seen. The drive on the Green Harp reef has been advanced to ft. The reef is smaller, but the country continues favourable for gold. The intermediate on the new reef Is along 41ft from the rise. The reef has been Her, but appears to be making again. Only a few pieces of specimen stone were secured. Work was resumed in the vise, 201bs of specimens being won. Gold Is showing in the bade of the rise. The reef averages from 2 to 6 Inches in width. The reef, which was pinched in the drive, opened out to loin. At the 3COft level the now reef ' has been driven upon for 41 feet. It is still . small, but the country is not so hard, and more favourable for "gold. The Bunker's I intermediate has been extended 23ft, Dibs I of specimen stone being secured. The reef j is from S to 10 inches wide, encased in favourable country. Move stone should be i ■secured from this drive from time to time. i There should be no difficulty in locating the now reef, at the 220 ft level, and work has been started with that obj. -t. At the 400 ft level, preparations are being made to rise where the gold was first secured. Champion Miner..Collins and party have ->—t of their dirt in the battery, arid exj pect to commence crushing to-day. Mr Skinner is at the mine, and is busily engaged in making the survey of the new claims.

Scotia.—Tbe intermediate level is now timbered right up to the face. The lode averages 2ft, and shows a, Utile gold In the dish. The manager banked IGSO7. 9(lwts of melted gold, the result of 102* tons of ore trea ted.

Victoria.— winze below No. 3 level is down 50' ft. The footwall reef Is making towards the hanglngwnll, and is now a loot from the hnngingwnil reef on the western end of the winze. The Quartz is about nine Inches wide, but up to date no values have been soon. The ha-nglngwnll reef has been broken down, showing a width of (1 Inches and good dabs of gold were -seen. The two reefs should Junction In a few more feet of sinking. Only one stope has been maimed !n No. 1 level, and this is producing fair ore. Colours of gold are seen freely, and about eight pounds of stone -worn selected from the qnnrtz broken during the week. May Queen Extended.The crosscut south Is In 100 ft. and penetrating mild sandstone. which is well mineralised. Another 20ft should reach the reef.

Silver Hill.—The drive to Intersect No. 4 reef has been advanced ISft during the past fortnight. Results of assay from the winze overhead give £10 1/4 and £2 16/11. Scnrdinavlnn.The Nightingale reef was Romewh.t disturbed, but Is now resuming its usual solid form again. The quart-: hrokon shows good minerals, and also a little gold. The drive is now getting Into the hill, where good prospects were obtained on the outcrop of this large reef, which can be traced for hundreds of feet on the surface. Lowrie's reef In the face continues abont the same. Taram Mines.—A breaking down of the reef will take place this week. -Water still continues to flow very freely from the lode.
