THE RICHMOND TRAMS.

AND WORKERS' TICKETS.

A deputation from the Grey Lynn Borough Council, consisting of the Mayor (Mt. W. J. Holdsworth) and Mr. T. L. Thompson, waited on Mr. Walklate, general manager of the Auckland Electric Tramway Company, to-day, to urge the extension of the concession, to "workers living in the Richmond section of the Grey Lynn line. The deputation pointed out that workers' tickets were available in the Grey Lynn section at the rate of 3d. return, while workers on the Richmond section would, as matters stood at present, have to pay the full fare of 2d. return for the short remaining section. Some 250 acres of land were waiting to be opened up near the Richmond terminus, it was pointed out, but, unless the concession of 4d- return, which was urged, were granted, settlement and consequent traffic would be considerably retarded. Mr. Walklate remarked to the deputation that the Company had already refused to extend the workers' reduction on the 3d. section of the Mt. Eden and Mt. Roskill lines, but he promised to go into the matter and consider the request favourably in reporting on it to Ms directors. Another matter brought up was the Sunday time-table, the printed foTms making it appear that Sunday cars would stop at the end of the present 2d. section. Mr. Walklate explained that this was a printer's error, and that the Sunday cars would run to the Richmond terminus.
