■ ■ ——, v ■■!. HEAVY RAINS IN QUEENSLAND 100 INCHES IN THREE MONTHS (By Cable.—Press Association— BRISBANE, March 21. The Fit-Toy River, at Rockhampton, is in high flood. Sixteen inches of rain have fallen during the present month, and the low-lying parts of the town, are inundated. Residents are removing. The wharves are covered, and much damage has been done to goods. The floods have caused great destruc- j tion in the surrounding districts.' Several mining dams have been swept away, and the train service disorganised by washaways. The river Warrego, at Angathella, is a mile wide, and is still rising. The township is largely under water. At Maekay over lOOm of rain have fallen since the beginning of the year. RESCUES IN BOATS. ONE LIFE LOST. (Received 10.10 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Numbers of residents of the flooded area are being rescued in boats. At Charleville three men attempted to cross the j river in a boat, but lost their craft. They I are now clinging to the tree tops in a perilous position. A man named Nunn was drowned at Bajool.
