The singer has the especially pleasing ability to enunciate bis singing words perfectly, so that each word is given its full value. Songs were varied with recitations, and Mr Bacon has a quality o( humour and | an easy cblloq—ial style of delivery that"! entirely captivated his listeners. The recitation, "The Bishop and the' Cater-1 pillar," was parti-ulariy well done, and ! the audience found hearty amusement in •the story called "Three Lads and a Feast,-" which was given racily and well, and established a comfort—— intimacy between reciter and audience. ■ Mr Bacon gave the variations on the theme of "Jack and Jill" as it would be rendered by various poets. Other songs which he sang , very skilfully were Tosti "Goodbye," "Whisper/ and I Shall Hear" and : "Memories of Home." As. a final to his enjoyable __.e_:, "Smike,-".a passage from "Nicholas Nick—by," -was given. To-night, Mr Bacon will give another recital, with an entire change oi programme.
