On Saturday, March 12th, the employees of the firm of Messrs Hardley and Hardley, Ltd., importers and manufacturers, held a most enjoyable picnic at Henderson. The heads of the firm were ipresent, and helped on the success of the day's outing. After lunch a good programme of athletic events was got off. The following are the results: 100 yds Handicap, for gold medal presented by the firm: M. Ellis, scratch, 1; J. C. Pratt, Cyds, 2. Apprentices' Handicap, for silver medal, also presented by the firm: A. Sutcliffe, scratch, 1; three entered. Married Ladies' Kace: Mrs Kyecroft, lj Mr s A. Sharp, 2. Single Ladies' Race: Miss Tyler, 1. Employers' Eace: Mr C. Hardley.. 1; Mr W. Hardley, 2. 100 yds Open Handicap: E. Eichards, 1; P. Walters, 2. Tug-of-War: Warehouse v. Factory, won by the latter; Married Ladies v. Single, won by the former. A number of children's races were also run, anu toys distributed. The prizes were distributed by Mr J. W. Hardley.
