The correspondence read ! revealed much practical sympathy with 'the • committee in connection witli .tlie.unfavouri able weather experienced at the late show, [a number of the prize-winners donating : •their cash prizes to the .funds, and a member of the committee stated that the Pukekohe Town Band was prepared to refund £1 of the amount due them for their services. It was agreed that the prizes I awarded be paid, also all accounts as read Ibe passed for payment. Strong remarks I were made about 'the stoppage of vehicular and other traffic by stationary trains across I the road south of .the railway station, and jlt was agreed that the president of the ; association, in conjunction with the chairi man of - the Fjikekohe Town Board, Puke|kohe East and West Head Boards (who ■are to be Invited to act in the matter) Interview the .traffic manager about the blocking .'of. traffic by trains. The Pukekohe Mounted Rifles* annual meeting and dinner took place on Maxell 18 :ln.'ilr. West's Temperance Boardlng--1 house. About 40 members were present, j The prizes won at the various corn-petitions '■were presented. Corporal 'Easton, Corporal Hamilton, and ' Private Booker. It was agreed that the Shooting Committee act as the Sports Committee. A party of players, representing the Te Kuttt Lawn Tennis Club, visited Te Awamutu oa March lTi.h. and played the return match of the season with the local team. Although n number of people had taken advantage of the holiday, and were out of the district, a fair nunVjer of spectators were present, all of whom showed a keen Interest in the tournament. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladles, and socially the event, was vorj- successful.
