HAMILTON GAS WORKS.
BOROUGH APPEAL UPHELD. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HATVnTiTON, this day. The borough solicitor received a cablfc.this morning from London stating that the appeal of the Hamilton Gas Company, in connection with the compulsory purchase of the gasworks, had been upheld by the Privy Council, thus reversing the decision of the New Zealand Appeal Court. The price to be paid will be £34,402, instead of £16,559 under the ■New Zealand decision, as estimated' by the umpire in arbitration, plus £30°0 deficiency in past earnings and compensation for compulsory taking.
