Grant, headmis tress of the West ChristchurcOi District High School who is well known id educational circles, died at Waimate yesterday morning. Mr. W. J. Byrne, of Sydney is oa a visit to the" Dominion," arrived" by the Main Trunk train this morning, and ia staying for a few days at the Star HoteL Mr. Uames M. M. Walsh, recently of the office staff of A. J. Entrican, Ltd., with Mrs. Walsh (nee -Black, of Pukekohe), were passengers by the Navua, en route to their future home in Vancouver, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. T. P- Hoare, of this city, leave by the Wimmera next Monday to catch the Orsova for London. They expect to be away about nine months, and will most likely return by way of Anie« rica. Major and Mrs. M. Edwards, visitor* ■to the Dominion •from Hurlinghani, Norfolk, and who have 'been staying at the Grand Hotel while in Auckland, left for the South last evening by the Mala Trunk train. Mr. H. Suter, the well-known eoncholo. gist, is preparing a manual on New 2ealand mollusca for the Government. Hβ left Wellington for the South on Wednesday night to study the collections of shells in the museums at Christchurch and Dunedin.
