BATHING AT SHELLY BEACH.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —It was with great appreciation that I read ""A Parent's" letter in the Monday night's issue of the "Star." That his grievances are genuine would convince anyone who visited Shelly Beach of an evening, when the tide was in. Hundreds and hundreds of people visit this beach during the summer evenings to indulge in a sea bath, and it is a deplorable fact that the accommodation provided is not in any way equal to the demand. To make matters worse, the small shed which has been erected closes at 6 o'clock or thereabouts, so that the bathers' only alternative is to strip on the beach. 'Why this shed should close so early is past my comprehension, as it is in the ev-enings that the largest crowds are there. It is a wonder to mc that the Ponsonby people have let things come to such a pass without seemingly doing anything to remedy it. Wliat is wanted is a shed six times the size of the present one, and as it would be self-supporting when once going, it should not cause the Council any trouble in putting one up. 'As it is getting a hit late for this season, I would suggest that it be erected in ample time for next year. —I am, etc, BATHER.
