DROWNED.
An old man named Walter Purdie, employed as an operative in the paper mills at Riverhead, was drowned while bathing near the mouth of the river on Saturday evening. The river was dragged for some time without success, but when the tide receded, the body was found on the mudflat. Purdie was a married man, but he has no children.
