MEETINGS & ENTERTAINMENTS
m. ' ■ . The accounts of the Welcome Club's recent production of Sir Arthur Wing Pinero's "The Magistrate," have just been closed, and after deducting all expenses, the gratifying sum of £61 15/6 has been handed over to the Society for Prevention of ; Cruelty to Animals and Protection of Women and Children. The committee, headed by Mrs Alfred Nathan, also the ladies and gentlemen taking part in the piece, are all to be warmly congratulated on the success of their efforts, for it has in its ranks amateurs whose work was of quite a high order. The hon. secretary of the Welcome Club has recently received a letter from Mr J. C. Williamson, in which he promises, if possible, to include New Zealand, in the proposed tours of. Sir Charles Wyndhimi and Sir Beerbohm Tree, so that lovers of the dramatic art in the Dominion may have an opportunity of seeing these two great artists. 1' ,
