.ARCH HILL ROAD BOARD. A meeting of the Arch Hill Road Board was held last night, there being present Messrs. Jno. Jeukln (chairman), A. A. Diiweon, P. J. Hnwkln, and A. Walker. Great North-road Devlntion.—A letter was received from the delegates to the conference of local bodies on the Great North-road works, in whioh was forwarded the sum of £4S 11/6, the amount apportioned to the Board for payment te the Gas Company in connection with the deepening of gas mains on the Great Northroad. It will be remembered that the company claimed from the local bodies concerned In the alteration to the road the sum of £427 for altering the mains. The local bodies disputed the claim In the Courts, but lost the case, so that th« amount was now apportioned amongst the various bodies for payment.

Steadmau's Nursery.'—A request was received from a property-owner for permission to erect a terrace of houses in that part of the Great North-road known as Steadnmn's Nursery. The plans showed that the houses would front on a private road BGft wide, but that the road was only to be entered from a right-of-way lift em wide. The request was referred to tie Works Committee for consideration.

Craycroft Bridge.—A letter was received from the Eden terrace Road Boad asking to meet the Arch Hill Board, with a view to arranging about the construction of the Craycroft Bridge. It was decided to suggest that Arch tlill should join with the Eden Terrace Board in the erection of a permanent concrete bridge, and Messrs. Jenkln and Dawson were given power to act in the matter.

Finance.—Amounts totalling £32 12/4 were passed for payment. NORTHOOTE SCHOOL PICNIC. The Northcote School held their annual picnic at Pine Island on Saturday, and a very enjoyable day was spent. The p.s. Eagle conveyed the excursionists to the Island, making trips at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. In addition to the children quite a large number of adults participated in the outing. A band vras In attendance, and rendered suitable music. The school sports were held at the Island, and the following are the lesulta of the principal events: —Boys, J.3yrs and ove-r (120 yds): C.
