AUCKLAND v. OTAGO.

The Auckland Cricket lAssociation's Selection Committee has chosen the following eleven to represent Auckland in the match against Otago, beginning on Friday next: —Anthony, Hadden, Hemus, Hbrspool, Howden, Mason, Olliff, Relf, Sale, Smith (captain) and Sneddon. Hemus is doubtful of being able to obtain leave, and should he be unable to play Taylor will take his place. Sale will be wicket-keeper. The team will practise to-night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

A contract has been signed at the Commonwealth Works Office for the erection of the main building for the machinery and power plant in connection with the small-arms factory at Lithgow. The successful contractors are Messrs. Jones and Allman, of Marrickville, Sydney, whose tender price was £11,750. The builders undertake to complete the work by September 27 next. A contract for the supply of steel roof principals, trusses, and metal window frames has been secured by Messrs. Johns and Waygood, a Melbourne firm, at £3,859. Tenders have been invited and close shortly for the supply of power plant and machinery.
