ACCIDENTS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) A SHIPWRIGHT KILLED. DUNEDIN, Sunday. John McPherson, an elderly man, residing at Port Chalmers, sustained severe injuries on Friday, from which he died this morning. He rolled down a steep bank, at the bottom of which he fell over a concrete wall, with a drop of sft., to the footpath. Examination showed that the base of his skull was fractured. McPherson had been in the employ of the Union Steam Ship Company for many years as shipwright and blockmaker. SERIOUS LIFT ACCIDENT. OHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. At about 4.30 p.m. to-day a serious accident occurred at the United Service Hotel, by which a young married man named Frederick Senib, employed as engineer and electrician at the hotel, sustained grave injuries. By Home mischance his foot slipped on the edge of the open lift-well, and the unfortunate man was hurled down the shaft, a distance of fully 50ft., and fell on to the heavy timber and front framing on top of the lift. He was sent to the hospital in the ambulance.
