BREWARRINA DEMOLISHED.
A DEADLY HAILSTORM. SYDNEY, January 30. A terrific cyclone practically demolished the township of Brewarrina, 516 miles north-west of Sydney ,on Friday evening. The telegraph lines have been interrupted and communication has just been restored. The details of the disaster to hand are meagre. • No lives are reported lost, but every building in the township has suffered more or less dainge. Sis inches of rain fell in an hour and a half, and a flood is feared. Enormous hailstones fell, and thousands of birds killed by the hail are strewn on the street. Some fowls, Jogs, and rabbits were also killed. ( SYDNEY, this day. The damage is estimated at £15,000. The Church of England, two hotels, the railway goods shed, several business places and a number of dwellings will have to be rebuilt. Not more than a dozen buildings escaped serious damage. The railway line was washed away for a couple of miles. The Barwon River is rising rapidly.
