POLICE COURT.

(Before Messrs D. Flynn and C. H. . Furness, J.'sP.) DRUNKENNESS. The only man charged with drunkenness this morning was a new arrival in the country, having landed yesterday. He pleaded guilty, and was convicted and discharged. ALLEGEB ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Catherine Holt, charged that on the 16th January she attempted to commit suicide by taking carboliq acid, was remanded for a week. - Amy Bigby was charged that on the J th_. January she attempted to commit eutcide by drinking lysol. She was remanded for a week. LANGUAGE. David Phillis was charged that a/t Waiwera on the 27 th December he used obscene language. Accused was summoned to appear at Warkworth, but h-j did not appear, and he was apprehended on warrant. He was remanded- until Monday, bail being fixed in two sureties of £10 each. Two youths named Roy .Johnson and iAlfred Alexander- we're charged that on the 9th January they used obscene language in .Great North-road, at New Lynn. Every Sunday evening service, is held in. V hallat NewLyim, 'and it is the custom sf several young men. to congregate outode the building, throw atones and use yile language, to the annoyance of the people at service, more -especially when they are on their way home. On Suniay, the 9th January, the constable was pna of the people coming from the hall, having joined the crowd for the purpose of discovering who the principal delinquents were. The two young men, it : .s alleged, made use of rather vile ex-, pressiona when the constable was quite dose to them, and the constable caught hold of one of the pair- The defence was a denial that the language was used by either of the defendants, though some of the witnesses admitted that bad language was used by another of the party. The charge- as against both defendants was dismissed. REMANDED. John McOabe, charged that on the 10th January he. indecently assaulted Eileen Lynch, was remanded for a week. THE BY-LAWS. Wong Wing admitted having fed his horse in Grey-street otherwise than by means of a nosebag, and having_left his horse and trap untended in the" street longer than was reasonably necessary. He was fined 1/ for each offence, and ordered to pay costs', amounting in all to 24/6. Charles Short, for failing to observe the rule. of. the road at the Khy.ber Pass-Symonds-sbreet corner, was fined 2/6, costs 7/. INDECENCY. Patrick McLean was convicted on a charge of having committed a grossly indecent act in the bar of the Victoria Hotel.
