AN EDITOR'S SCHEME.
TO THROW OFF BRITISH CONTROL. CALCUTTA, January 27. The evidence given in a case at Lahore against the editor of an inflammatory newspaper, for publishing seditious matter, shows that his papers included a scheme for a native government in India, after the removal of British control.
The Maharajah of Nepal, an immensely wealthy native prince, was to be King of India, under the proposed scheme, with a council of five members. The Ameer of Afghanistan was also to be persuaded, if possible, to join the scheme.
A House of Princes and a House of Commons were to be established at Delhi.
