ST. BENEDICT'S YOUNG MEN'S CLUB. The last of the series of euchre and dnnce socials took place at St. Benedict's Hall last evening, about 150 couples being present. The euchre tournament resulted In Miss Benjamin and Mr. McGahan winning in their respective sections. A epe- • clai prize, awarded to the lady and gent . winning the highest number of games during the season- was won by Mrs. Lewis and Sir. Benjamin. Dancing was also Indulged lv to excellent music, provided by Miss Wells - String Band. XORTHCOTE ATHENAEUM. The Korthcote Hall was crowded to the doors lasti night, when the three-act drama "Sweet Lavender" was staged- The production, which was under the direction of Sir. K. Hunt, wae a pronounced success, nnd reflected great credit upon those who took part for the able and efficient manoer In which the several parts were represented. A larce audience assembled nt the Federal Club rooms on Thursday afternoon, on the occasion of the 'At Home" given by Miss Alice Law, L.R.A.M., at which the musical programme was given by her junior pupils. The young performers acquitted themselves well, and reflected great credit on their training. Mort of the items, consisting of piano and violin solns. nnd rtnns for 2 pianos, were played from memory in a tasteful manner. The most promising performer was Miss Mamie Harvey, who ments from Reethoven's "Sonrta in G.. op. 79." :Miss Amy Thompson snng two solos, which were much appreciated by the audience. At the conclusion of the programme, afternoon tea was handed round by the senior pupils.
