Private advices received here by prominent Jews state, that 18 Jews were killed ©utnigbjt. Eleven died subsequently of their wounds, 150 were seriously injured* ana more than 1000 others were also injured. The Jews, in defending themselves, are raid to tare killed three and wounded 18 of their assailants. Owing to the support given by the Jews to the f«form movement, the Ruseian actlonary party organised a pogrom. They •hired numbers of peasants from the surrounding vllagesi who were liberally supplied with, d-rtak of all descriptions, and ■then taken to Klefl.'. The peasants were again plied with drink in Kieff until they were in ah excited and dangerous condition. Then, ied by bands of town boollgans, they were inarched to the ghetto, and, taking the Jews completely by surprise, flashed into the synagogue, butchered the rabbi, and drove eway the congregation. The building was demolished, and then the. maddened peasants turned themselves to the pursuit of the affrighted mob of Jews, Dividing into bands, they Invaded the Jews' homes and struck down the defenceless occupants with axes, clubs, Iron bars, and other weapons. The furniture and contents of the houses were pitched through the broken windows into the streets, where eager helpers buiLt bonfireß, and the drink-maddened murderers, with Hands and faces β-talucd with blood, da-need round the flames. Over 100 Jewesses were btought screaming piteoiiely into the streets, and their clothes being stripped from theif bodies, they were driven in a nude condition through the streets, while the hundreds of inhuman sightseers mocked at them and spat in their faces. As the furniture .was blazing IB huge bonfires in the Streets two Jewish lad» were captured and thrown Upon the fire, to be roasted alive, while the onlookers, lusting for more blood, sent Up theif shrill and savage cries. At another , spat, seeing their escape was hopeless, a handful of young Jews placed their backs against a wall, preparing to sell their lives dearly,.and, firing into the oncoming mob, succeeded In killing three of theif tormentors. Then, with a rush, the crowd surged around them, and in a few minutes they were literally hacked to pieces. While the Jewish men were busy barricading their doons and against the onslaughts of the mob, Jewish women, carrying buckets of boiling water, hastened to the roofs and poured the steaming contents on the heads and -backs of their savage enemies. Mnhy of these Women were caught and pitched headlong into the streets, and thereby dashed to death. When darkness brought the Thursday to a close, the Jewbaitere spent the night in drunken revelry, preparing for fresh brutalities In the -morning. Bonds of them kttouted all Jews found. Terrible atrocities were inflicted on men, women, and children. Every conceivable torture was Inflicted on the helpless victims during three daye of ah Indescribable hell oh earth, and while all this was going On the authorities ■passively watched without takfng ' any steps to restore orfler. At last a Jewish deputation persuaded the Govefnor-Geh-erat >to send troops to disperse the riotef3 and succour the unfortunate Jewish victims.
