ASIATICS IN THE VAAL.
EQUALITY REFUSED. AGITATION TO CONTINUE. PRETORIA, November 11. Mr J. C. Smuts (Colonial Secretary of the Transvaal) declines to grant British Indians equality in the matter of immigration, but is willing to allow a limited number permanent residence. Mr Gandhi, an Indian barrister, who has been living in Johannesburg for soma time, nnd who has been a prominent figure in the movement against the Transvaal's Asiatic legislation, has replied that the agitation will continue on a bigger scale than ever.
