THE RCAHINE'S SPEED TRIAL. The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Co. has been advised to the effect that their new twin-screw liner Hutbane, which was recently launched from the yards of Messrs WiUiam Denny and Bros., of Dumbarton, lias been handed over by the builders to her owners. During her trials a few weeks ago, the vessel attained a speed of sixteen knots an hour. This is considered ao excellent performance, and is slightly above the contract speed, viz.. thirteen knots at sea on a fully-loaded draught, or, say. four.een knots under average conditions. The new liner is to sail from Plymouth ou her maiden voyage to Wellington on November 27, and is due nt Capetown ou December IS, at Hobart on January 6, and at Wellington ou January 11. The Adelaide Steamship Company's cargo pteumcr Juiiue. which arrived at Wellington from riuubury on Tuesday last, encountered strong gales and heavy seas after leaving Bunbury ou -October 23. till arrival at Melbourne ou Sunday. October 31st. Bunkers were re-llilcd. and the vessel sailed last Monday week for Wellington.
