WAIHI EXTENDED.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WuUHI, this day. I visited the underground workings of the Waihi 'Extended mine this morning, where the new reef was recently intersected in the south-east crosscut of Xo. 5 level. The crosscut has nowbeen advanced 20ft into the lode, and in conjunction with the branch crosscut there is 15ft of stone showing, with no sign of the wall. The ore is very kindly looking, well mineralised throughout, but the face of the main crosscut seems changing to a more silieious nature. The lode on the whole appears a substantial one. A valuable band of zinc blende and silver is also traversing the lode. The manager estimates the strike as north-east, and is of opinion that the 'lode will ultimately join the Xo. 1 or Martha lode, which he expects to pick up in the same crosscut 100 ft further ahead in about three -weeks' time. Messrs. Dawson (director) and Colbeck (of Auckland) also visited the ■workings at the same time. No. 2 loda in No. 2 drive is being driven on with a full face of quartz.
